The nature of Sardinia

In the afternoon visit to the town of Aritzo, a mountain village surrounded by forests in the center of Sardinia, once home to the snow trade, now a tourist center with artisan and culinary traditions.

Visit the city center and the parish of San Michele Arcangelo, from where begins a staircase that allows you to reach the seventeenth-century Spanish prisons, Maximum security prisons until the mid-twentieth century - where Napoleon’s French officers were also detained - characterized by an underpass called sa Bovida. Today the prisons are the scene of Bruxas, a fascinating exhibition on witchcraft, torture instruments and the sacred Inquisition in Sardinia.

Of great interest is also the ethnographic museum of the Sardinian mountain. Of the seventeenth century is also the charming house Devilla, in the historic center, not far from the castle Arangino, built in 1917 with exposed stone, according to medieval models.

Full day dedicated to the view of the Gulf of Orosei National Park and the Gennargentu in freedom.

The area of the park of the Gulf of Orosei and Gennargentu is rather heterogeneous from the geological and landscape point of view, and represents one of the wildest areas of the Mediterranean. Remarkable also the fauna of the territory. The scenery of Gennargentu is characterized by a dense and continuous mantle of woods and Lecci, in some areas of Supramonte, is so dense that not to let the sun’s rays filter. Great plant monuments such as the thousand-year-old badgers of Tedderieddu, the oldest in the world, are in Arzana, while along the waterways, the Mediterranean scrub of junipers, fillyrea, arbutus, mastic, euphorbias, rosemary, Holly and red berries leaves room for the saffron flower, the peony rose and the wild orchid. Numerous animal species, with the particularities of amphibians (such as the Geotritone of caves and the Euprotto, endemic salamander that inhabits the streams), fish (including groupers, moray eels and lobsters) and mammals, with mouflon, Sardinian deer, wild cat and fox. Wild boar is also widespread.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Independent transfer (duration of about 2 hours) at the meeting point at Supramonte base camp. Meeting for 17:00 with the guide for the excursion "The Night in Supramonte".

Supramonte is a vast mountain system of limestone origin, extending from the slopes of Gennargentu to the Gulf of Orosei. Are also widespread species characteristic of the Mediterranean scrub such as the fillyrea, heathers, cysts, mastic, and others, in addition to oleanders inside the cockles, wild pear, terebinth, trilobo maple and broom of Etna.

The excursion includes a night under the stars around the fire with dinner and breakfast of typical products and zero km.

Overnight.

After breakfast, always with typical products at zero km, you will make an easy trek before returning to Base Camp.
