CNA - Traditions, tastes, and heritage of Lunigiana

Arrival in the morning in Pontremoli and guided tour of the historic center, a true gem of the Lunigiana region. The town, historically a borderland, was described by Frederick II as the only key and gateway to the Apennines. Stretching along the Via Francigena, it offers a succession of stunning medieval and baroque views.

The itinerary begins with a visit to the Museum of the Stele Statues, where evocative prehistoric sandstone figures are preserved inside the Castle of Piagnaro.

The tour continues with a walk through the town’s bridges and squares, with the possibility of tasting stops at traditional shops in the historic center.

Lunch featuring typical local products. In the afternoon, we visit an old artisan workshop for chair caning and antique furniture restoration, discovering the most authentic traditions of the Lunigiana.

Dinner and overnight stay at a farmhouse (agriturismo).

After breakfast, transfer to the small village of Scorano, near Pontremoli, to visit one of the hidden gems of the area: the garden of Villa Pavesi Negri Baldini. Designed in the early 18th century by architect Giovan Battista Natali, this small baroque garden is a treasure trove of beauty, secrets, and wonders.

A short distance from the garden, we visit a local producer of testarolo, the traditional flatbread of Pontremoli, still made using ancient cooking methods with cast-iron pans (testi).

We end our itinerary nearby with a wine tasting experience in the charming setting of a restored old watermill, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.
