Description

Piedmont is a point of reference for the Waldensians, a Protestant minority who found refuge in the Pinerolo valleys when persecutions began at the beginning of the 13th century by the bodies of power that did not welcome the birth of a new religion. The Waldensians were persecuted for centuries, until 17 February 1848 when Charles Albert granted them the Letters Patent, the emancipation edict which equated them to Catholic citizens with regards to civil and political rights. This itinerary takes you through the main places of memory of the Waldensians, without forgetting the town of Pinerolo with its history linked to the period of the great migrations of the 19th century and the local traditions, still alive and well, from local cuisine to traditional dances.
