Day 1 – Potenza
Arrival in Potenza and surrounding area in the early afternoon with own transport and hotel check-in.
Meeting with the guide and start of the city tour. Potenza, the highest regional capital in Italy, is also known as the “city of a hundred stairways.”
Highlights include: the National Archaeological Museum “Dinu Adamesteanu” (a must-see), the historic center with its six ancient gates (three still intact), the pedestrian Decumano road (Via Pretoria), and the charming Via delle Chiese.
Visitors will also experience the eco-friendly escalators, a unique way to reach the city center across its slopes.
Dinner and overnight stay in Potenza or nearby.
Day 2 – Castelmezzano & the Lucanian Dolomites
Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure with own transport to Castelmezzano. Guided tour of this picturesque mountain village, famous for its narrow alleys, stone houses, and spectacular views of the valley.
Lunch with typical local products.
Afternoon dedicated to adrenaline: experience the Slittovia and the legendary Volo dell’Angelo.
Return to hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Muro Lucano – Marmo Platano Area
Breakfast at the hotel and departure with own transport to Muro Lucano. Guided tour of the village, birthplace of Saint Gerard Majella, Patron Saint of Basilicata.
The medieval castle (9th century), perched high above the town, offers one of the most striking views in the region.
Lunch with traditional dishes.
Return to hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Potenza & Departure
Breakfast and check-out.
Departure to Naples and/or Bari airport.
