Hands on the Rock: Visit to Pont d’Ael, Visit to Les Crêtes Winery, Climbing

Venturing into the heart of Gran Paradiso National Park, we will arrive in Cogne, once an important mining center, now a well-known tourist destination. Our journey will begin at Pont D’Ael, with a guided tour to discover the precious local stone. Here, we will cross the namesake Roman bridge-aqueduct, originally built to gather the water necessary for processing Bardiglio marble. We will then walk to Aymavilles, an important extraction center of this valuable stone, widely used in the construction of the castle that we will visit to complete our journey.

The historical and naturalistic excursion will be complemented by a food and wine itinerary highlighting local specialties, starting with lunch at Vinosteria Antirouille in a simple and comfortable setting. In the afternoon, we will visit the Les Crêtes winery, where we will enjoy a tasting with a view of their vineyards. Our journey of discovering typical flavors will be completed in Lillaz, with a dinner featuring ancient recipes revisited in a contemporary style at the Lou Tchappé restaurant.

The second day will see us engaged in an introductory climbing lesson on the rock gym in Lillaz. Afterwards, we will hike the trails along the waterfalls and relax with a picnic immersed in the surrounding nature. Our journey of exploring the area will conclude with a visit to the village of Cogne, accompanied by a guide who will tell us about the valley's strong connection to its oldest traditions.
